Spring is Everywhere
springWinter time is officially over in Petrozavodsk. We decided to ask our international student what they are going to do in spring.




The 66th All-Russian Students and Young ScientistsScientific Conference with International Participation is on!
PetrSU From the 14th till the 30th of April 2014 the 66th All-Russian Students and Young Scientists’Scientific Conference with international participation starts at Petrozavodsk State University.




PetrSU International Students (Eric)
EricEric Gustav Engberg came to Petrozavodsk State University to continue learning the Russian language which he has been interested in since childhood. “I fell in love with the Russian culture and language when I came here for the first time to the international summer camp together with the Russian children. This way I started getting to know your country: through learning Russian, reading, for instance, Pushkin’s fairytales, but still they were in Swedish. Later, in upper secondary school, I got the opportunity to learn Russian and I took this opportunity without a moment hesitation.” – recalls Eric.




Mythbusters, or Stereotype Breakers
1On the 31st of March in the framework of the Cross-Year of Culture of Great Britain and Russia 2014 a roundtable discussion “Mythbusters, or Stereotype Breakers” took place at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences. Grace Farquhar-Thomson, PetrSU student from Great Britain, and Xavier Martel, a student from Canada, were invited to the roundtable discussion.




The Year of Culture: the Chronicle of the Foreign Students Studies
the year of cultureThe courses on the topic “Culture” were given in the framework of the educational program for the international students studying the Russian language at PetrSU.




Courses for PetrSU and the University of Oulu students
Oulu 3The intensive courses organized for the students of PetrSU and the University of Oulu (Finland) on the topic “Comparative Approach in Research in the Field of Education” started at the Institute of Foreign Languages of Petrozavodsk State University.




Examination in Russian as a Foreign Language
Ttorflhe third test session this year was held in the Russian Language Testing Centre of the Institute of International Program of PetrSU. The citizens of the Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Uzbekistan came to test their Russian language skills required for obtaining the labor permit in the Russian Federation and receiving the Russian citizenship.




New Course in English

3The foreign students from the University of Oulu (Finland) and the students of the Institute of Foreign Languages of PetrSU joined the course “Regionalism, Regional Politics and Cross-Border Cooperation in the EU”, which had started in February 2014.




Petrozavodsk and Russia through the Eyes of the International Student
DanielDaniel Becker, the student of the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Göttingen (Germany), explains his interest in the Russian politics: "Russia is one of the leading world powers, so I'm curious to compare how the ongoing here events are reflected in the Russian and Western media". Among the Russian politicians Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov who, according to the student, "gives the impression of a concentrated, inspiring, calm and confident person" appeals to Daniel. From the autumn semester Daniel was studying on the exchange program at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of our university. He sought to come to Russia not only to study, but also to dispel stereotypes about our country.




You are warmly welcome to Comparative Social Work!
International Winter School On the 3rd of March the International Winter School “Social Politics and Human Rights” was opened at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of Petrozavodsk State University. The school is held in the framework of the Barents Cross Boarder University on the “Comparative Social Work” program. The partners of the program are the University of Lapland (Rovaniemi, Finland), Northern Arctic Federal University (Arkhangelsk) and Murmansk State Humanities University.
