Farewell to the British Students
The students from the University of Birmingham spent one summer month in Petrozavodsk studying the Russian language at Petrozavodsk State University. As they had classes every day their language skills were considerably improving.
By the end of the course all of them successfully passed the final test. Each student was presented with a certificate of successful completion of the Russian language course. Our British students expressed their gratitude to the teachers and said that they would love to come to Petrozavodsk again.
There is no doubt that the students learnt more about Russia, the Russian culture and language while staying in Petrozavodsk. We wish them only good luck and every success in studying Russian and using their knowledge in their professional and everyday life!
A Weekend in Karelia
There was a lovely weather during the weekend in Karelia.
The foreign students went on the excursion to Ruskeala. The Marble Quarry of “Ruskeala” is the oldest open mining quarry, filled with natural water so clean, you can see 20 m deep. It is one of the most popular places in Karelia during summer time. The long trip to Ruskeala (5 hours) was worth it. The students rented boats and went to the quarry where they spent a couple of hours relaxing and admiring the landscape.
The next day the Directorate for international cooperation invited the foreign students to a picnic near the river in the town. The students got the chance to swim in the river, play football, communicate with the locals and just enjoy the wonderful weather.
