New Students, New Partners and New Friends at PetrSU
1The student exchange programs at Petrozavodsk State University are a great chance both for the Russian and for the foreign students. Thanks to this program, the foreign students can study at PetrSU faculties and institutes for one or two semesters for free and learn the Russian language while being in the language environment. Moreover, it is a great opportunity to explore the culture of another country and find new friends in Russia. This semester 18 exchange students from Japan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Finland arrived to Petrozavodsk State University.
This time most of the students came from Japan. They study at Sophia University in Tokyo, where they have learnt the Russian language for about two years. At PetrSU, the Japanese students and most of the other foreign students have chosen the Faculty of Philology and are ready to apply their knowledge in practice. The other “popular” fields of study are the foreign languages and economics.
