If you want to dive in the cultural environment and art, you should definitely visit Musical theater of Karelia (Kirov square, 4). It was found in 1995.The theatre's repertoire includes performances of all musical and stage genres: classical and modern operetta, musical, musical comedy, opera and ballet. Musical theater of Karelia has the largest stage area of the Republic, outfitted with modern equipment. Its auditorium is designed for 607 seats.
Various exhibitions and cultural meetings in our town are organized by the Media Center Vыход (Media Center Vykhod, Karl Marx Avenue, 14). Artists, photographers, designers, actors, musicians, composers and dancers gather here and take part in different projects. The media center arranges educational programs for young artist and organizes many cultural projects.
The life of the city and its atmosphere you will feel, if you come to the centrally located café «The Кухня» (Lenin Avenue, 7). The young people meet right here. Most visitors are students who come here after their studies. They meet with friends, communicate with each another and just spend their free time.
If you get out of «The Кухня» and go down Lenin Avenue, you can see Onego Lake quay, the favorite place of many tourists and dwellers (and also one of the main attractions and the symbol of Petrozavodsk). It is often called an open-air museum, because it keeps sculptures gifted to the town by sister cities. For example, the statue «Рыбаки». Two fishermen who throw a net into the lake are a gift to Petrozavodsk from the American city Duluth.
